CombiProtect User Manual
CombiProtect is a device that combines a wireless motion detector with a viewing angle of 88.5° and a distance of up to 12 meters and a glass break detector with a distance of up to 9 meters. It can ignore animals and detects a person within the protection zone from the first step. The detector can operate for up to 5 years with a pre-installed battery and is used inside buildings.
CombiProtect works within the Ajax system, which is connected to the hub via the protected Jeweller protocol. The communication range is up to 1,200 meters in line of sight. In addition, the detector can be used as part of third-party security central units via the uartBridge or ocBridge Plus integration modules.
The detector is set up via an application for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows. The system notifies the user of all events through push notifications, SMS messages and calls (if enabled).
The Ajax system is self-sufficient, but the user can connect it to the central monitoring station of a private security company.

Functional principle
CombiProtect combines two types of security devices — motion detectors and glass break detectors.
The thermal PIR sensor detects intrusion into a protected space by detecting moving objects with a temperature close to human body temperature. However, the detector can ignore pets if the appropriate sensitivity is selected in the settings.
The electret microphone is responsible for glass breakage detection. The intelligent system for registering events requires a sequence of sounds of a certain type - first a thud, then a sound of falling chips - which prevents accidental activation.
CombiProtect does not detect glass breakage if the glass is covered with any type of film: shockproof, solar protection, decorative or other. To detect the breakage of this type of glass, we recommend using a wireless DoorProtect Plus opening detector with shock and tilt sensor.
Once triggered, the armed detector immediately sends an alarm signal to the hub, activates the sirens and notifies the user and security service.
If the detector has detected movement before the system is armed, it will not be armed immediately but only when the hub next queries it.
Connecting the detector to the Ajax system
The detector is enrolled to the hub via the Ajax Security System app and then configured. To enroll the detector to the hub, place the devices within wireless range and follow the instructions for adding a device.
Before establishing the connection:
- Follow the recommendations of the Hub manual and install the Ajax application , create an account, add the Hub center to the application and create at least one room.
- Turn on the hub and check the Internet connection (via Ethernet cable and/or GSM network).
- Make sure the hub is disarmed and not updating by checking the status in the mobile application.
Only a user with administrator rights can add the device to the hub
To connect the device to the hub:
- Select the Add Device option in the Ajax application.
- Name the device, manually scan/write the QR code (located on the body and packaging) and select the installation room.
- Select Add — the countdown begins.
- Turn on the device.
For detection and pairing to occur, the detector should be within the coverage of the hub's wireless network (at a single protected site).
When the device is switched on, a connection request is sent to the hub for a short time.
If the connection to the Ajax hub failed, turn off the detector for 5 seconds and try again.
The detector connected to the hub appears in the list of hub devices in the application. Updating the detector statuses in the list depends on the device polling time set in the hub settings - the default value is 36 seconds.
Connecting the detector to third-party security systems
To connect the detector to a third-party security central unit using the uartBridge or ocBridge Plus integration module, follow the recommendations in the manual of the respective device.

Detector testing
The Ajax system allows you to conduct tests to check the functionality of connected devices.
The tests do not start immediately, but within 36 seconds using the default settings. The start time depends on the detector sampling period settings (the paragraph on " Jeweller " settings in the Hub settings).

Installing the detector
Selecting the detector location
The controlled area and the efficiency of the security system depend on the location of the detector.
Device is intended for indoor installation only.
The location of the CombiProtect depends on the distance from the hub and the presence of obstacles between the devices that hinder the transmission of the radio signal: walls, recessed floors, large-sized objects located in the room.
Checking the signal level at the installation site
If the signal level is one bar, we cannot guarantee stable operation of the security system. Take all possible measures to improve the quality of the signal! Move the device at least a little - even a shift of 20 cm can significantly improve the reception quality.
If the device has a weak or unstable signal strength at the other location, use a signal-boosting wireless repeater .
The direction of the detector lens should be perpendicular to the likely method of entry into the room. The detector microphone should be positioned at an angle of no more than 90 degrees relative to the window.
Make sure that furniture, houseplants, vases, decorations or glass structures do not block the detector's field of view.
We recommend installing the detector at a height of 2.4 meters.
If the detector is not installed at the recommended height, the motion detection zone area will be reduced and the animal immunity function will be affected.
Installing the detector
Before installing the detector, make sure you have selected the optimal location and follow the guidelines contained in this manual!
The CombiProtect detector can be installed on a vertical surface or in a corner.
- Fasten the SmartBracket plate to the surface using the screws provided, using at least two fixing points (one of them — above the tamper protection). If you select other fixing elements, make sure that they will not damage or deform the plate.
The double-sided tape is to be used only to temporarily secure the detector. The tape will dry out over time, which may cause the detector to fall and trigger the security system. In addition, the device may fail if hit by an impact.
- Place the detector on the mounting plate. When the detector is mounted in SmartBracket, it will flash an LED - this is a signal that the tamper protection on the detector is closed.
If the detector's indicator light does not work after installation in SmartBracket, check the tamper protection mode in the Ajax Systems app and then the plate's fastening density.
If the detector is torn off the surface or removed from the mounting plate, you will receive the notification.
Do not install the detector as follows:
- outside the premises (outdoors);
- towards the window if the detector lens is exposed to direct sunlight;
- towards any object with rapidly changing temperature (e.g. electric and gas heaters);
- towards all moving objects with a temperature close to that of the human body (moving curtains over the radiator);
- towards any reflective surfaces (mirrors);
- in all places with rapid air circulation (air fans, open windows or doors);
- near metal objects or mirrors that cause attenuation and shielding of the signal;
- in rooms where the temperature and humidity are outside the permissible range;
- closer than 1 m from the hub.
Maintenance of the detector
Check the functionality of the CombiProtect detector regularly.
Clean the detector housing of dust, cobwebs and other contaminants if they occur. Use a soft, dry napkin suitable for equipment maintenance.
Do not use substances containing alcohol, acetone, gasoline and other active solvents to clean the detector. Wipe the lens very carefully and gently — scratches on the plastic can affect the sensitivity of the detector.
The pre-installed battery ensures autonomous operation for up to 5 years (assuming a hub polling frequency of 3 minutes). When the detector battery is discharged, the security system sends notifications and the LED lights up gently and goes out when the detector detects movement or when the tamper protection is activated.
To change the battery, turn off the device, loosen three screws and remove the front panel of the detector. Replace the battery with a new CR123A battery, observing the polarity.
