Notstromversorgung
The emergency power supply is provided by an emergency power system (NEA). Such an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) installation consists of two components:
- Diesel-Emergency Generator
- Battery System
It takes a few seconds for the emergency generator to start. The UPS battery system bridges this time. Powerful accumulators provide the energy until the power generator has started. The batteries will be automatically recharged later.
Uninterruptible power supplies are used to protect particularly sensitive devices and systems. These include, among other things, computers, servers and telephone systems. If the power goes out, UPSs ensure continuous operation of the technical systems. The system also absorbs short-term undervoltages and overvoltages. Appropriate protection must not be missing in hospitals, laboratories and companies with sensitive computer technology.
