Gateway
A gateway can be viewed as a translator between different transmission worlds. A router with a modem and other functions works as a gateway between the local and external IP world. For example, a gateway can be the interface between KNX and other wireless networks such as WLAN, ZigBee, Z-Wave etc. Many smart home solutions offer their own gateway to control the entire home network. In this way, smartphones and tablets can also be integrated into the home control system via an app.
