The DRAGINO RS485-LS is an RS485/UART to LoRaWAN converter for Internet of Things solutions. The user can connect a RS485 or UART sensor to the RS485-LS converter and configure the RS485-LS to periodically read sensor data and upload it to the IoT server via the LoRaWAN network.

RS485-LS can be connected to RS485 sensors, 3.3v/5v UART sensors or interrupt sensors. RS485-LS provides a 3.3V output and a 5V output to power external sensors. Both output voltages are controllable to minimize the overall power consumption of the system. RS485-LS is waterproof (IP67) and powered by a solar cell + Li-on battery and is designed for long-term use for several years. RS485-LS runs on the LoRaWAN 1.0.3 standard in Class A. It can achieve a long transmission range and is easy to integrate with LoRaWAN compatible gateways and IoT servers.

For data uplink, RS485-LS sends user-defined commands to RS485 devices and receives the feedback from RS485 devices. RS485-LS processes these returned data according to the user-defined rules to get the final payload and upload it to LoRaWAN server. For data downlink, RS485-LS runs in LoRaWAN Class A. When there are downlink commands from LoRaWAN server, RS485-LS forwards the commands from LoRaWAN server to RS485 devices. RS485-LS supports BLE configuration and over-the-air OTA update, which makes it easier for users to use.

Each RS485-LS is preloaded with a set of unique keys for LoRaWAN registration, these keys are registered with the LoRaWAN server and the connection is established automatically after power on.
