WAC6553D-E 802.11ac 3x3 Outdoor AP EXT Antennas - WITHOUT power supply - Operation only via PoE according to 802.3at
The premium AP ZyXEL WAC6553D-E is positioned in the WLAN enterprise market and is particularly suitable for locations with high client density. Demand for Gigabit WLAN is increasing
Now that the fast WLAN AC standard has become well established in home networks, this technology is increasingly in demand in the business sector. The need for gigabit WLAN is increasing particularly in schools, conference centers, airports, hospitals and hotels, as multimedia applications are often used in these places. Planning is more difficult with AC
The performance gain of AC compared to the 802.11n standard is essentially achieved through two improvements: more channel width, i.e. at least 80 instead of 20 MHz and 256-level quadrature modulation instead of the previous 64-level. However, these improvements have a massive impact on the planning of an AC WLAN. In the 5 GHz frequency range, fewer overlap-free channels are available and due to the higher susceptibility to errors with 256 QAM, a very good WLAN signal with little interference is necessary. In addition, due to the reduced range of the WLAN signal in the 5 GHz frequency band, more APs have to be installed than in a 2.4 GHz WLAN, which in turn increases the risk of interference. Standalone or managed?
The APs of the WAC6500 series can be operated in standalone or managed mode with the same firmware. The APs automatically recognize - if desired - which mode they should start in. Even if the APs are managed centrally by an AP controller, the operating mode can be changed to standalone locally at any time via the web GUI. Compatible with older WLAN clients
All new APs have two radios: one supports 802.11a/n/ac in the 5 GHz frequency range, the second 802.11b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz range. This ensures that older WLAN clients also have access to the WLAN. If an NXC controller is also used, it is recommended to activate the "Band Select" function. This causes the WLAN solution to try to connect as many WLAN clients as possible in the 5 GHz frequency band. This relieves the WLAN in the 2.4 GHz range, which in turn increases the performance of the wireless network. Dual image and LED indicator
To avoid failures, the new APs have a dual image. This means that the AP can continue to operate even if a firmware upgrade is aborted or fails. LED indicators are a great help if the locations of the APs are no longer known. In such a case, you activate the LED on the AP and you will quickly find the location.
